It was definitely something different, in a patriotic sense. Apart from having SAF Military Band, the national anthem was played and we all had small flags that resembled those that were given out during National Day.

Those who attended also received a copy of this year’s SOE book; containing snippets about the companies that were nominated.

It was a great night with all of us bonding with one another over pictures and dinner. I’m always excited to meet like-minded people who are not afraid to venture into entrepreneurship. Amongst us, Shawn chose to go into his own company full-time and Weijie is thinking of venturing into F&B after graduation.

Once again, congratulations to our 30 honourees and truly, let’s continue this enterprising spirit in Singapore.

Congratulations to all Spirit of Enterprise Awardees for 2009.
It was an honor for the interviewers to learn from these inspiring entrepreneurs; their business challenges and success stories. To all those who did not manage to win an award, you are still winners to us! Keep the entrepreneurial spirit going!

With the velvet night sky as our backdrop and the panoramic view of the city below, we enjoyed getting up close and personal with Vernetta Lopez on her challenges being a celebrity entrepreneur. In addition to being a radio deejay, she is also the owner of Eternally Yours Wedding Planners and the President of One Singapore; a non-profit organization promoting awareness to poverty.

With her affable and candid personality, her story is all the more interesting to hear. She shared about the pressure of being a celebrity entrepreneur as one is under many watchful eyes and her niche in a competitive market.

This session inspired many and one of them was Delcie, who shared how the session further motivated her in her upstart.

A very unique session! Highly encouraged for those who are interested in how celebrities move on to entrepreneurship! Celebrities are in a unique position that allows them to capitalise more effectively at various markets – yet it’s not an easy journey. I’m looking forward to more of such Celebpreneur sessions!
