With the velvet night sky as our backdrop and the panoramic view of the city below, we enjoyed getting up close and personal with Vernetta Lopez on her challenges being a celebrity entrepreneur. In addition to being a radio deejay, she is also the owner of Eternally Yours Wedding Planners and the President of One Singapore; a non-profit organization promoting awareness to poverty.

With her affable and candid personality, her story is all the more interesting to hear. She shared about the pressure of being a celebrity entrepreneur as one is under many watchful eyes and her niche in a competitive market.

This session inspired many and one of them was Delcie, who shared how the session further motivated her in her upstart.

A very unique session! Highly encouraged for those who are interested in how celebrities move on to entrepreneurship! Celebrities are in a unique position that allows them to capitalise more effectively at various markets – yet it’s not an easy journey. I’m looking forward to more of such Celebpreneur sessions!

I’ve always wondered about the alternative routes that are available to celebrities when their stardom fades. Especially when Chinese & Singaporeans in particular are so concerned with the issue of reputation or “mian zi” and working a normal job is like taking a step down from their position as a media icon. I’m really glad to attend this session with Vernatta Lopez, & imagine my surprise when I realized that stardom didn’t make her arrogant & she is in fact exceptionally affable!

I have always wondered how celebraties handle their business despite their hectic schedule and this event indeed was an eye-opener for me. Also, Venetta shared with us her past experience setting up a florist shop and her current business on wedding planning. She is one leading example of an entrepreneur who accepts setbacks as a step closer to being successful. Each failure takes you through learning process and you get better at each attempt.Overall, i throughly enjoyed the evening and I’m looking forward to the next one! Thanks to the SOE committee for organizing this splendid event! :)
